FSC Attending the Days of Slavic Cultures in Moravia for the Second Time

For the second year in a row, the Forum of Slavic Cultures (FSC) participated in the Conference on the Interslavic Language and in the Days of Slavic Cultures Festival which are traditionally held in various towns in Moravia (Czech Republic).

This year’s festival, among others supported also by the FSC, took place between 31 May and 3 June and featured many events focussed on Serbian and Sorbian cultures whereas the linguistic conference, whose honourable chair was also the FSC Director Andreja Rihter, PhD, gave the event a scientific flair. 25 speakers from 12 countries discussed Slavic and Interslavic linguistics and presented a number of projects directly or indirectly related to this topic. On behalf of the FSC and its Director, the conference was inaugurated by Mateja Jančar, Project Manager. In her speech she pointed out that the FSC’s first concern was supporting Slavic cultural and linguistic diversity but at the same time its efforts were directed into understanding and co-operation of Slavs. She presented the FSC projects from that field, primarily the 100 Slavic Novels book series, a unique Interslavic translation endeavour. One of the central events was an exhibition of the Miroslav’s Gospel manuscript, the most important memorial of early Serbian and South-Slavic Cyrillic literacy which was organized in co-operation with the FSC partners from Serbia – the Matica Srpska and the Serbian National Library. The latter has been hosting the Centre of Slavic Cultures Belgrade since this February.
