The Route of European Women Writers of the Early Twentieth Century
The international conference dedicated to women writers’ cultural route aimed to shed light on the different aspects of the route that is being set up by the Forum of Slavic Cultures (FSK) and its partners. The conference was organised by All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature M. I. Rudomino, Institute of Translation and Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The Women Writers Route is a joint project developed in cooperation with partners from five Slavic countries: Slovenia, Poland, Croatia, Serbia and Russia. Their representatives took part at the international online conference at which Dr. Andreja Rihter, Director of the FSK, presented the work of the Forum and the Women Writers Route, and expressed their excitement over the interest and enthusiasm stirred by the new project, which is dedicated to women’s voices in European literature.
At the two-day online conference, which was broadcast also by the national TV channel Kultura, the FSK presented the Women Writers Route project and the steps leading to obtaining the Council of Europe certification. In the expert part, the speakers talked about the different aspects of life and creative work of writers featured in the new cultural route: Zofka Kveder, Lili Novy, Marina Tsvetaeva, Anna Akhmatova, Zinaida Gippius, Maria Konopnicka, Isidora Sekulić, Marija Jurić Zagorka, and several others not yet included in the project.
The participants were greeted by Olga Yarilova, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, Dr. Andreja Rihter, Director of the FSK, Pavel Kuzmin, Acting Director General of the Library for Foreign Literature, and President of the Scientific Council of the Women Writers Route, Dr. Katja Mihurko Poniž. The lectures were broadcast live also through the Centre of Slavic Cultures Moscow FB profile.
