Drago Jančar, Slovenian writer, playwright, essayist and one of the authors on the Slovenian list of 100 Slavic Novels received the prestigious Stefan Mitrov Ljubiša Award in Budva, Montenegro.
Marking the 15 th anniversary of the Forum of Slavic Cultures the 8th Belgrade Festival of European Literature paid special tribute to the 100 Slavic Novels series, which was discussed by Slovenian writers Jani Virk and Vlado Žabot and Serbian editor Gojko Božović.
Forum of Slavic Cultures Editorial Board members from Montenegro, Croatia, Russia, Slovenia and Serbia met at the regular annual Board meeting.
On the threshold of a new year the meeting of the Forum of Slavic Cultures and the writers from the Slovenian 100 Slavic Novels list took place. They agreed that this literary project is something special and that they will be delighted to take part in the evnets marking the 15th anniversary of the foundation.
The opening ceremony of the 100 Slavic Novels exhibition in the centre of Bratislava was held under the auspices of Ľubica Laššáková, Minister of Culture of the Slovak Republic, Andreja Rihter, Director of the Forum of Slavic Cultures, and Silvia Stasselová, General Director of University Library in Bratislava. The exhibition will be on display at the University Library in Bratislava until January 2019.
The Forum of Slavic Cultures has published two more of the 100 Slavic Novels, The Great War by Serbian author Aleksandar Gatalica, and The Women of Lazarus by Marina Stepnova. Both authors presented their novels also to Slovenian readers.
This year again, the Forum of Slavic Cultures presented its work at the Belgrade Book Fair. Numerous visitors were drawn not only by the books from the 100 Slavic Novels collection, which really stand out with their visual design, but even more so by the exhibition of the same name.
The International Foundation – Forum of Slavic Cultures presented the 100 Slavic Novels series at the Moscow International Book Fair for the second year in a row. After Moscow the authors representing the series continued their visit to Russia at the Leo Tolstoy’s estate in Yasnaya Polyana where they were special guests of the traditional international writers’ meeting.
A Macedonian publishing house Slovo, the Macedonian partner of the 100 Slavic Novels project, published two new titles in the first half of 2018.
For the second year in a row, the Forum of Slavic Cultures (FSC) participated in the Conference on the Interslavic Language and in the Days of Slavic Cultures Festival which are traditionally held in various towns in Moravia (Czech Republic).
