Slovenian Writers Jani Virk and Vlado Žabot at the Belgrade Festival of European Literature
Marking the 15 th anniversary of the Forum of Slavic Cultures the 8th Belgrade Festival of European Literature paid special tribute to the 100 Slavic Novels series, which was discussed by Slovenian writers Jani Virk and Vlado Žabot and Serbian editor Gojko Božović.
At the festival the Slovenian writers presented themselves individually on literary evenings and together at a very well attended press conference; they had also several meetings with Serbian press. Jani Virk talked about his novel The Last Temptation of Sergij, while Vlado Žabot’s literary programme was focused on his novel Wolf Nights. The Serbian translations of both novels appeared in the 100 Slavic Novels series. The audience and the media were interested in the views of the Slovenian guests on the of 100 Slavic Novels collection and the work of the Forum of Slavic Cultures, as well as their opinion on contemporary Slovenian literature; and the role and importance of literature in new social, cultural, media and technological circumstances. The Belgrade Festival of European Literature is one of the most visited literary events in Serbia.
