Between 8 and10 September 2022 the Luxembourgish city of Esch-sur-Alzette, this year’s European Capital of Culture, hosted the European Museum Academy’s conference and awards meeting, at which Andreja Rihter presented the international foundation Forum of Slavic Cultures and the Women Writers Route (WWR), which was certified this year by the Council of Europe’s Institute of Cultural Routes.
Founded in 2009, the European Museum Academy has been very active in education and research in the museum sector, and has been closely collaborating with experts from various partner institutions in awarding the efforts in this field. This year’s EMA awards ceremony was accompanied by a programme that reflected on the topics which opened up the questions of political resistance and the role that art museums can play to engender social impact.
The practical part of the programme offered series of intensive workshops, with a special workshop dedicated to the new cultural route of women writers. The participants showed considerable interest in this kind of merging of culture and tourism, and several expressed interest in joining the project.
