Friends and collaborators of the Gallery of Matica Srpska marked its impressive jubilee at the ceremonial session during which the Gallery conferred special awards to acknowledge their fruitful cooperation.
This October the Gallery of Matica Srpska celebrated impressive 175 years of operation. The guests at the ceremonial session were greeted by Dr Tijana Palkovljević Bugarski, Director of the Gallery of Matica Srpska, Professor Dr Dragan Stanić, President of Matica Srpska, and Maja Gojković, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia as well as President of the FSK Board. In her address Ms Gojković pointed out that the Gallery of Matica Srpska ranks among the most prominent and notable museums in the region, while its continuity testifies to the successful fulfilment of its mission in preserving the national and cultural identity.
At the ceremonial session the Gallery’s friends and collaborators received special jubilee awards, among them also the Forum of Slavic Cultures, in the framework of which the Gallery of Matica Srpska raises awareness of the uniqueness of Slavic heritage in all spheres of creative activity, in particular in cultural heritage. FSK director Andreja Rihter accepted the jubilee award on behalf of her institution.
The cooperation between FSK and the Gallery of Matica Srpska was marked already in 2014 when the Gallery received the first Živa Award for the best Slavic museum. In 2019 the Gallery received special Živa Award recognition for leadership from among 25 nominated museums from 12 countries, which put it on the map as one of leading art museums, distinguished for its numerous collaborations, excellent communication, and clearly defined mission and goals.
