FSC makes yet another appearance at the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum
In the framework of the 7th St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum the Forum of Slavic Cultures presented the making of the new culture route, while culture ministers from Slavic countries welcomed the Slavic Capital of Culture project.
Once again, the International foundation Forum of Slavic Cultures accepted the invitation to present their activity at the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. At the second conference on new cultural routes of the Slavic world the ministers of culture, namely Dejan Prešiček from Slovenia, Boil Banov from Bulgaria, Ľubica Laššáková from Slovakia, Vladan Vukosavljević from Serbia and Alla Manilova, State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, stressed the importance of cultural heritage of every nation and highlighted the benefits generated by joint projects and through promotion of Slavic nations both within and beyond their home countries. In addition to already established projects (100 Slavic Novels, Živa – Award for the Best Slavic Museum etc.) the FSC is currently working on a new European cultural route (the first to be run by an institution whose headquarters are in a Slavic country) and has also embarked on the Slavic Capital of Culture project, following the approval of the FSC Board. Vladan Vukosavljević, President of the FSC Board, pointed out that the forum will be celebrating 15 years of existence next year and will commemorate this anniversary with a number of events.
According to the Russian hosts, the FSC will be a special guest at the next St. Petersburg cultural forum. “This is a unique opportunity for Slavic cultures, institutions and artists,” stressed Alla Manilova, while Andreja Rihter, Director of the FSC, added that the Forum would invest every effort, in cooperation with FSC member countries, to adequately prepare for the event in order to take full advantage of this opportunity, similarly to other guest of honour countries at one of the biggest events in the world that puts a spotlight on the global trends in culture. Ms Rihter also gave a lecture at the round table entitled Music. Time. Digitisation. Spaces.
This year, the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum will be attended by as many as 35 000 visitors from 100 countries.
