Centre of Slavic Cultures in Belgrade
On the day marking the 186th anniversary of the National Library of Serbia the Serbian Minister of Culture and Information Vladan Vukosavljević opened the Centre of Slavic Cultures Belgrade, the second of its kind run by the Forum of Slavic Cultures.
“The potential of Slavic cultures is enormous and we should make the most of its momentum. The cultural charge of the Slavs is powerful and inspired with experience, artistic talent and cultural wealth accumulated through our history, without which it is impossible to understand or imagine the world’s civilisation,” stressed Mr Vukosavljević at the opening ceremony in the National Library of Serbia, while Ms Rihter, Director of the Forum of Slavic Cultures noted: “Western Europe is unaware that Slavic nations each speak their own language… It is therefore important that we build bridges to get to know them and present them to the rest of the world. It should be our imperative to tell the world our stories, to let them speak of our cultures and our heritage.”
