Forum of Slavic Cultures to Mark Its 15th Anniversary

The international foundation Forum of Slavic Cultures will mark its 15th anniversary with special events held in Slovenia and in member as well as third countries. The Forum of Slavic Cultures has evolved into a reference platform for intercultural dialogue between Slavic cultures and thus became their connecting centre in the fields of arts and culture, education, science and cultural tourism.

From its headquarters in Slovenia the Forum of Slavic Cultures connects 13 Slavic countries (Belarus, Bulgaria, Bosnian and Herzegovina, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Serbia, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Macedonia, Montenegro and Slovenia). “After 15 years of operation the FSC has evolved into a reference platform for intercultural dialogue, serving as the centre connecting Slavic countries and promoting Slavic cultures beyond the borders of its member countries,” stressed Andreja Rihter, Director of FSC, at the beginning of the year that will celebrate its 15th anniversary with a series of special events. Besides their well-established projects, the oldest of which are 100 Slavic Novels and the Živa Award for the best Slavic museum, they will also launch a new thematic programme and research into young Slavic migrants in Slavic countries. The 15th anniversary of the FSC will be celebrated in other FSC member countries as well.

“Last year our events were attended by more than 65,000 visitors while our reach extends 1,000,000 people. Upon our 15th anniversary we want to further extend it and become even more accessible by building bridges not only to the expert public, but also to the wider audiences in and beyond Slavic countries. We believe that with a number of events coupled with our vibrant partner network and ongoing communication processes we are bound to succeed,” added Ms Rihter, stressing that they are especially proud of their website (www.fsk.si), which in 2019 definitively embodies a concept of an international website offering a series of info points that not only provide information, but also facilitate collaboration and liaising between users and institutions. Last, but not least, it is unique in that it offers contents in all 13 Slavic languages and English
