100 Slavic Novels Exhibition in Bratislava
The opening ceremony of the 100 Slavic Novels exhibition in the centre of Bratislava was held under the auspices of Ľubica Laššáková, Minister of Culture of the Slovak Republic, Andreja Rihter, Director of the Forum of Slavic Cultures, and Silvia Stasselová, General Director of University Library in Bratislava. The exhibition will be on display at the University Library in Bratislava until January 2019.
Ms Rihter spoke at the 10th meeting of Croatian museum pedagogues
Croatian museum educators met at their 10th conference, once again at the international level. The central topic this year was Boundaries and Visions, and Andreja Rihter, Director of the Forum of Slavic Cultures, gave a plenary lecture entitled Museums Bring Meaning to Our Lives.
Two new books in the 100 Slavic Novels collection
The Forum of Slavic Cultures has published two more of the 100 Slavic Novels, The Great War by Serbian author Aleksandar Gatalica, and The Women of Lazarus by Marina Stepnova. Both authors presented their novels also to Slovenian readers.
FSC makes yet another appearance at the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum
In the framework of the 7th St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum the Forum of Slavic Cultures presented the making of the new culture route, while culture ministers from Slavic countries welcomed the Slavic Capital of Culture project.
Živa introduced to museum professionals in Croatia
Lidija Nikočević, Croatian judge for the Živa Award, presented Živa – Award for the Best Slavic Museum and Slavic Heritage Site at the general meeting of the Museum Association of Eastern Croatia
100 Slavic Novels in Belgrade – more than books, an exhibition too
This year again, the Forum of Slavic Cultures presented its work at the Belgrade Book Fair. Numerous visitors were drawn not only by the books from the 100 Slavic Novels collection, which really stand out with their visual design, but even more so by the exhibition of the same name.
SeeYu conference on WWII memorials
In October, 25 professionals from 12 countries presented the role, past and present, of history museums and memorials to WWII at the international SeeYu conference that took place in the Slovenian capital.
FSC and ICOMAM brought professionals from 27 countries to Slovenia
In cooperation with ICOMAM, International Committee of ICOM, which brings together arms and military history museums, the Forum of Slavic Cultures hosted the international conference “War and Peace, Fear and Happiness” in Slovenia (Ljubljana, Pivka, Maribor). The conference attracted more than 70 participants from 27 countries from across the globe
