On Tuesday, October 8, 2024, the Forum of Slavic Cultures, in collaboration with ARGOS, hosted the 2nd International Symposium, this time focusing on the Life and Work of the Poet Ada Škerl. Held in the picturesque setting of Villa Zlatica in Ljubljana, the event marked the 100th anniversary of Škerl’s birth, bringing together experts from various countries to discuss themes of literary tourism and sustainable preservation of cultural heritage.
Highlights included lectures by Prof. Dr. Milena Mileva Blažić on Škerl’s lesser-known children’s poetry, and Prof. Giovanni Capechi’s presentation on new research in literary tourism. Literary tourism not only offers an enriching cultural experience for visitors but also creates unique commercial opportunities for destinations. The event was further distinguished by the premiere of Hommage pour Ada Škerl, a musical piece performed by violinist Inga Ulokina. Mateja Kregar Gliha, President of ARGOS – the Association of Regional Tourist Guides of Slovenia, presented innovative approaches to remote guiding, allowing guides to lead tours without being physically present, which opens new possibilities for tourism.
The symposium, financially supported by the Municipality of Ljubljana, was held in a hybrid format to increase accessibility for a broader audience.
