Training for Tourist Guides on Ljubka’s Trail

January 11, 2025, Nova Gorica – The third module of the tourist guide training program within the Ljubka’s Trail project took place at the University of Nova Gorica. This session focused on the rich historical and literary heritage of the Goriška region, as well as the life and work of poet Ljubka Šorli.

Historian Dr. Petra Svoljšak guided participants through the pivotal period at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, shedding light on everyday life, cultural, national, and political movements in the Goriška region. Dr. Katja Mihurko, a literary historian, presented pioneering female writers from Goriška in her lecture Goriška Women Writers – Pioneers on the Path to Equality, highlighting their remarkable achievements in a time when women faced significant societal challenges. Dr. Vita Žerjal Pavlin, in her lecture Ljubka Šorli: A Poet of Resistance, Hope, and Love, introduced the poet’s literary opus. Adding a personal touch to the event, Vera Tuta Ban, Ljubka Šorli’s niece, enriched the discussion with heartfelt memories of her aunt.

The training program will continue on February 5 and 6 with practical field exercises, where future guides will apply their newly acquired knowledge and practice delivering information to visitors.

The project is funded by the European Union through the GO! 2025 Small Projects Fund under the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 program, managed by EGTC GO. More information is available at www.ita-slo.eu and www.euro-go.eu/spf.
