This year’s International Summer School of Museology, which will take place from May 25 to 28 in Koper, explores the evolving role of museums as dynamic spaces that bridge the past and the future.
Title: Expanding Horizons – Echoes of heritage in the future of museums
We will explore how heritage encourages museums to move beyond preserving history, becoming co-creators of a more diverse, inclusive and forward-looking museology. Participants will reflect on how digital tools – from virtual exhibitions to AI-powered curatorial practices – can improve accessibility, interaction and long-term preservation of heritage.
The 16th International School of Museology is aimed at a diverse range of participants, including museum curators, students, professionals, conservators and all others interested in museums as active and dynamic stakeholders in contemporary society.
The programme will be conducted in English.
If you are interested in attending the 16th International Summer School of Museology, please fill in the online registration form available HERE. The deadline for early bird registration (for non-speakers) is 25 April 2025.
The 16th International Summer School will focus on discussions about digital futures, migration and multiculturalism, as well as cultural identity and heritage. Through lectures, debates, and practical workshops, the school will equip participants with the tools to critically assess the role of museums in a world that is constantly changing. The primary goal is to foster open dialogue and facilitate an international exchange of knowledge, experience, and reflections on the role of museums in society, while learning how to innovate while respecting tradition.
