The Slovenian Flute Orchestra has successfully concluded its international tour The Balkan Road Trip, which offered audiences across the region a diverse, dynamic, and artistically refined musical experience. The tour represents an important step in the international promotion of Slovenian musical creativity and contributes to strengthening cultural dialogue in Southeast Europe.
The concert journey began at the St. Francis Hall in Koper and continued at Kolarac Endowment Hall in Belgrade, the Macedonian Philharmonic Hall in Skopje, and the Music Centre of Montenegro in Podgorica, before concluding at the National Theatre in Sarajevo. Each venue provided a unique atmosphere, and the orchestra was warmly and enthusiastically received by audiences throughout.
The programme was conceived as a musical journey through time and space – from the Renaissance master Jacobus Gallus to contemporary Slovenian composers, including Leon Firšt and Anže Rozman. A central highlight was The Balkan Road Trip by Leon Firšt, which weaves together Balkan rhythms, characteristic melodic elements, and a contemporary musical language, symbolising both artistic and geographical connections across the region.
The programme was further enriched by works from the host countries – Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina – creating a vibrant intercultural dialogue and emphasising a shared musical space.
The Balkan Road Trip was thus not merely a series of concerts, but a comprehensive artistic narrative about connection, identity, and the power of music to transcend borders and bring people and cultures together.
