Werner Tübke Monumental – The Great Circle
Germany

Werner Tübke Monumental – The Great Circle is an immersive multimedia installation based on the monumental painting by German artist Werner Tübke, completed in 1989. This immense artwork, located in Bad Frankenhausen, portrays the eternal rise and fall of social utopias, depicting over 3,000 figures in a style reminiscent of the late Renaissance. The immersive show, produced by Kunstkraftwerk Leipzig in 2019, allows visitors to explore Tübke’s painting through large-scale projections, interactive touchscreens, and eyewitness interviews. The goal is to make this complex masterpiece accessible to audiences of all backgrounds while preserving its cultural significance.

The project has attracted 40,000 visitors and received widespread media coverage. The installation is designed to be easily transportable, with plans to showcase it across Europe and beyond.
