Halubje’s Bell Ringers
Croatia

Halubje’s Bell Ringers is an animated documentary that unveils the powerful and resonant story of the Halubajski bell-ringers. The film, told through three interconnected tales, traces the journey of these masked figures from their historical roots—where shepherds stood up to the Turks—through a mythical battle with evil forces that reappear across history, and finally, to their modern-day transformation into a celebrated folk tradition in the 1950s. Directed by Miroslav Brozović, with over 20 years of experience in animation, the project brings historical and cultural elements to life for a broad audience, with a focus on Croatia’s rich heritage.

Production: Produced for various cultural institutions, including the Museum of Intangible Heritage, with Brozović’s extensive background in animation and visual media.
