Screening of the film My Children’s Genes

In honour of the birthday of the writer Zofka Kveder,
we cordially invite you to a screening of the film
Genes of my children (Geni moje djece)
by Croatian photographer and director Vladimira Spindler,
which will take place on Tuesday, 22 April, at 18:00
in the Projection Hall of the Ljubljana City Museum
at 15 Gosposka Street in Ljubljana.

Vladimira Sprindler, great-granddaughter of the writer Zofka Kveder, has made a film about the women of her family who have been active in the field of art for four generations. Alongside their artistic talent, they also have the common bond of having had unhappy relationships with men. Genes of my Children is the story of women who have left their mark in culture and the difficulty of emancipation in all historical periods.

After the screening, Dr Katja Mihurko, an outstanding expert on Zofka Kveder and President of the Scientific Council of the Writers Route, will talk to the author Vladimira Spindler, her mother, children’s writer Sanja Pilić, and her great-aunt, dance teacher Tihana Škrinjarić, and her daughter Maša Rehak.

The event is organised by the Association of Women Writers Route and the Forum of Slavic Cultures in the framework of the Ljubka’s Trail project.

The film will be screened in Croatian with English subtitles.

Free admission.
