The 17th International Summer School of Museology focuses on exhibition-making as the most visible and public-facing dimension of museum work. At its core lie two closely connected practices: interpretation and communication. How do museums tell stories about objects? How do they translate these stories into forms that audiences can understand? And how do they make meaning accessible, relevant, and engaging? Heritage is not only something we preserve – it is something we continuously reinterpret and bring to life. It exists not only in objects, but also in practices, knowledge, rituals, and stories. As museums and galleries continue to evolve, new approaches to working with objects and new relationships with audiences are emerging. This Summer School invites participants to reflect on these changes and to explore how interpretation and communication can respond to the expectations of contemporary society.
