Our mission

The FSK mission is to nerve the creativity of Slavic cultures.

The Foundation’s basic purpose is to connect Slavic cultures and give them presence in today’s global social arena. The Forum of Slavic Cultures connects and represents Slavic culture, science and arts, their creative charge and heritage, while investing its efforts in bringing the recognizable contribution of Slavic cultures to the global dialogue.

Welcome in Villa Zlatica

The doors of Hribar's Villa Zlatica (Cesta 27. aprila 47 / Ljubljana) are open on Fridays from 15:00 to 18:00 and Saturdays from 14:00 to 18:00. Tours can be arranged also from Tuesday through Sunday upon prior notice (at least 24 hours beforehand). Info and applications: vila.zlatica@fsk.si or by phone +386 (0)8 2052 800 or +386 40 835 775.

New: Public guided tour of Hribar's Ljubljana
On the last Saturday of every month, we offer a special guided walking tour of the city, including a visit to Villa Zlatica. We will gather in front of the Town Hall (Stritarjeva ulica 2) at 11:00 and finish in Rožna Dolina (Cesta 27. Aprila 47) no later than 13:30. As the number of places is limited, we kindly ask you to make a reservation before the tour. Reservations can be made by e-mail vila.zlatica@fsk.si or by phone +386 40 835 775. The price for the whole programme is € 10, or € 9 for students, seniors and unemployed. If you only attend the Ljubljana tour without visiting the villa, the price is € 8 and the discounted rate is € 6.

Forum of Slavic Cultures at Leipzig Book Fair
Visit us at our stand in Halle 4 – D402 and come to our events: Friday, 22 March, 15.00-16.00, stage Café Europa On the Edge of Reason Slovenian writer Suzana Tratnik with moderator Florian Valerius (@literarischnerd) and translator Zuzana Finger on her writing, women writers, Slovenian lesbian literature, her novel My name is Damjan“ in 100 Slavic Novels and the Women Writers Route one of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. Saturday, 23 March, 16.30-17.30, stage Weltweit 100 Slavic Novels and Slavic Literary Exchanges Dr Andreja Rihter, director of FSK, Professor Robert Hodel from the Institute of Slavic Studies, University of Hamburg, and Mladen Vesković, editor-in-chief of the 100 Slavic Novels collection, will discuss the collection and its role in Slavic literary exchanges, as well as common features of contemporary Slavic fiction and new trends in Slavic studies. The discussion will be moderated by Elvira Veselinović.

Book Fair on the Sofa, online

On the occasion of World Book Day, April 23, for the second year in a row Ljubljana, the UNESCO City of Literature, invites you to the Slovenian online book fair – Fair on the Sofa. The FSK, like 50 other participating publishing houses, will present a selection of ten books from the 100 Slavic Novels collection and the book At the Table with the Slavs.

Ivan Hribar and Slavic World, Villa Zlatica

The temporary exhibition will tell the story of Hribar’s idea of Slavism in the 19th century and juxtaposes it to the mission of the FSK, which this international foundation pursues in the 21st century. As they walk the paths that Hribar took as he was discovering the differences and similarities between Slavic nations, visitors will be able to observe the development of cultural cooperation between Slavic speaking countries.

Guided tour of the poet Lili Novy’s trail

On March 8, we celebrated International Women’s Day with the tour of the trail of the Poet Lili Novy, which is part of the Women Writers Route. Our guide was Mateja Kregar Gliha, president of the Association of regional tourist guides of Slovenia.
