All institutions interested in applying for the ŽIVA Award are hereby informed that the application deadline has been extended until 30 March 2026. Until then, applications are accepted in all categories: Best Slavic Museum, Best Slavic Heritage Site, and the category open to institutions outside the Slavic world – Excellence Diploma for the Preservation of Slavic Heritage Worldwide.
The ŽIVA Award 2026 is the central project of the Forum of Slavic Cultures and represents one of the most prominent platforms for recognizing excellence among Slavic museums, heritage sites, and initiatives dedicated to the preservation, research, and presentation of Slavic cultural heritage around the world. In addition to the prestigious international recognition, the award also includes a monetary prize of €5,000. The ŽIVA Conference and Awards Ceremony will take place from 30 September to 3 October in Bled, Slovenia.
With the ŽIVA Award, we aim to highlight the richness of the Slavic world – its shared values, diverse stories, and traditions – while also emphasizing the common cultural roots, historical paths, experiences, and challenges that Slavic communities have faced throughout time.
