Deadline for HIM 2026 Applications Extended to 20 June

The Forum of Slavic Cultures (FSK) and the European Museum Academy (EMA) announce that the application deadline for the international Heritage in Motion (HIM) Award 2026 has been extended until 20 June 2026.

Heritage in Motion is one of the leading international awards in the field of digital and audiovisual interpretation of cultural heritage. Since its establishment in 2012, it has recognised the most innovative projects that bring heritage closer to audiences through film, digital storytelling, interactive content, and virtual, augmented, and extended reality (VR, AR, XR).

Applications are open in three categories:

  • New Digital Experiences – interactive and immersive digital presentations of heritage;
  • Audiovisuals – films, documentaries, animations, and short videos related to cultural heritage;
  • Virtual, Augmented & Extended Reality – projects using VR, AR, and XR technologies to explore and interpret heritage.

Museums, cultural institutions, universities, digital studios, independent creators, and other professionals from around the world who use contemporary media to present cultural heritage are invited to apply.

This year’s edition brings an important novelty: for the first time, the HIM Award will be presented as part of the HIM Festival, which will take place on 29–30 September 2026 in Bled, Slovenia. The festival will bring together professionals from the fields of cultural heritage, museums, film, and new technologies, offering finalist presentations, screenings, workshops, discussions, and the award ceremony.

In addition to international recognition, finalists and winners will have the opportunity to present their projects at The Best in Heritage conference, one of the most prestigious international gatherings dedicated to excellence in heritage practice, which will be held in Barcelona in November 2026.
