Ljubka’s Trail Becomes Part of the ECOC Nova Gorica – Gorica 2025 Programme

22 January 2025, Nova Gorica – Ljubka’s Trail has been included in the official programme of the European Capital of Culture Nova Gorica – Gorica 2025. This cultural and tourist trail is dedicated to the poet Ljubka Šorli and other women writers from the Goriška region, whose creative works have left a lasting impact on both sides of the border. The trail offers visitors an insight into the literary legacy and historical role of women in society. The Literary Route project, developed by the Forum of Slavic Cultures and the Lojze Bratuž Cultural Centre, is also part of the broader network of the Council of Europe’s Cultural Routes, which highlights the importance of cross-border cooperation and the preservation of cultural heritage.

The European Capital of Culture 2025, jointly hosted by Nova Gorica and Gorizia under the motto GO! Borderless, is rooted in the idea of connecting and transcending borders. This is why we are particularly pleased that Ljubka’s Trail, with its focus on literary heritage and the significance of women writers from the Gorizia region, aligns with the vision of ECOC 2025. We are confident that this collaboration will further enhance the understanding of the rich history of women’s creativity in the region and contribute to the cultural richness of the European Capital of Culture.

The project is funded by the European Union through the Small Project Fund GO! 2025 of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme 2021-2027, managed by the EGTC GO.
