Ljubka’s Trail – A Training Session

As part of the Ljubka’s Trail project, the Forum of Slavic Cultures and the Lojze Bratuž Cultural Centre are establishing a new cross-border walking, hiking, and cycling trail dedicated to the poet Ljubka Šorli and her literary predecessors and contemporaries. The project is supported by the Interreg Italy–Slovenia Small Projects Fund and is included in the official ECC GO!2025 program.

The trail connects Tolmin, the birthplace of Ljubka Šorli, with Nova Gorica, Gorizia, and Kojsko in the Goriška Brda region. It guides visitors through the lives and literary legacies of female authors, while also linking communities on both sides of the border.

Alongside the creation of the trail, the project features a wide range of activities – cultural events, expert meetings, educational programs, publications, and promotional initiatives both online and in person. Supporting materials such as leaflets, maps, and brochures are being prepared to highlight the role of women writers, the importance of equality, and the complex, often turbulent history of the Goriška region. With its strong educational dimension, Ljubka’s Trail also offers valuable resources for teaching literature, history, and social studies.

Teachers, professors, and educators are warmly invited to attend a training session on September 4 and 8 in the afternoon at the Lojze Bratuž Cultural Centre in Gorizia. Organized as part of the autumn seminar for teaching staff at Slovenian schools in Italy, the training is coordinated by the Slovenian Education Institute, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Slovenia, and the Office for Slovenian Schools. Participants will learn more about the project, its goals, and key points along Ljubka’s Trail, while gaining ideas on how to integrate the trail and its content into their teaching practice. The program also includes two special lectures—on the role of women writers in the fight for equality and on the life and poetry of Ljubka Šorli—as well as a guided tour of Gorizia and Nova Gorica.

The training is free of charge, participants will receive a certificate of attendance, and applications can be submitted via email to kcl.bratuz@libero.it and info@fsk.si.

The Ljubka’s Trail project is co-financed by the Interreg Italy–Slovenia Small Projects Fund and is part of the official ECC GO!2025 program.
