The Call for the Heritage in Motion (HIM) Award 2026 will be officially announced at the [IN]VISIBLE Festival, taking place from 25 to 27 March 2026 at the Royal Library of Belgium (KBR) in Brussels. Alongside the announcement, the Forum of Slavic Cultures (FSK) and the European Museum Academy (EMA) will also present the launch of the inaugural HIM Festival, to be held in Bled, Slovenia.
The [IN]VISIBLE Festival is an international platform dedicated to storytelling, immersive technologies, and the use of artificial intelligence in rethinking historical narratives and making heritage more accessible and inclusive. Through its programme – structured around forums, networking sessions, showcases, and a closing ceremony – the festival brings together experts, artists, researchers, and policymakers from across Europe and beyond. Particular attention is given to new narrative approaches, digital innovation, and the visibility of historically overlooked figures, especially women in science and culture.

Within this context, the Heritage in Motion Award continues its mission of recognising excellence in audiovisual and digital projects that interpret, preserve, and promote cultural and natural heritage. By highlighting innovative and contemporary approaches, the award supports the development of new forms of storytelling and audience engagement in the heritage sector.
The 2026 edition marks a significant new chapter, as the award will be presented within the framework of the first HIM Festival, taking place on 29–30 September 2026 in Bled. Conceived as an international platform, the festival will bring together heritage professionals, filmmakers, and creatives to explore new ways of engaging with cultural heritage through screenings, presentations, workshops, and discussions.
