Ljubljana, 8 February 2025 – On the occasion of Slovenian Cultural Day, the Forum of Slavic Cultures (FSC) hosted a special literary talk at Villa Zlatica, dedicated to the 100th edition of the 100 Slavic Novels collection. The focal point of the event was the book Filio ni doma (Filio is Not at Home) by Slovenian author Berta Bojetu Boeta, which was published last year in a Serbian translation by Ana Ristović.
The discussion featured the author’s son, translator, sociologist, anthropologist, and historian Klemen Jelinčič Boeta, who was interviewed by writer and scriptwriter Špela Setničar. Through an in-depth conversation, they illuminated the life and literary contributions of Berta Bojetu Boeta, highlighting her invaluable legacy. The guest also shared personal memories of his mother and provided insight into the context in which her work was created.
The main segment of the discussion focused on Filio ni doma, as the speakers explored its symbolism, literary and historical significance, and the author’s personal experiences that shaped the novel. They also addressed the position of women in literature and the arts during Bojetu Boeta’s time, as well as the societal challenges she encountered as a female author.
The discussion evolved into an open dialogue, with the audience actively engaging by sharing their memories of the remarkable writer. Participants recalled Bojetu Boeta’s influence as the first Slovenian female writer to win the Kresnikaward for the best Slovenian novel of the year.
With this event, the FSK not only marked a significant milestone in its publishing programme but also reaffirmed the importance of literary heritage and the contributions of women authors in Slavic literature.
