The 4th Festival of Slavic Literature

From September 30 to October 8, Ljubljana, Maribor, and Nova Gorica will come alive with Slavic literature, stories, and creative dialogue.

The main guests of this year’s festival are two renowned authors: Croatian writer Nada Gašić (Voda, pajčevina) and Serbian writer and director Vida Ognjenović (Hiša mrtvih vonjav). Their novels are part of the prestigious 100 Slavic Novels Collection, which celebrates its 20th anniversary next year.

This year, the collection will also be enriched by a new Slovenian translation of Vida Ognjenović’s Hiša mrtvih vonjav (The House of Dead Smells), considered one of the most important works of contemporary Serbian literature.

The festival offers a vibrant program of literary evenings, discussions, book signings, and encounters with authors who will open doors to new worlds of stories. Highlights include a roundtable on the 20th anniversary of the 100 Slavic Novels project, as well as special events for lovers of literature and cultural heritage, such as visits to Villa Zlatica and a literary walk through Ljubljana with Lili Novy, organized as part of the European Heritage Days.

Join us in celebrating Slavic literature – discover new worlds, meet their authors, and share in the power of words!
