Before the end of the year, the 15th anniversary of the 100 Slavic Novels collection was celebrated at the Russian State Library, the largest library in Russia and one of the largest in the world. Slovenian writer Gabriela Babnik took part in the event. Her novel Intimno (Intimate) is included in the Slovenian list of the collection.
On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the collection, the “Vladislav Petković Dis” City Library in Čačak and the Novi Sad City Library held roundtable discussions dedicated to “this major international cultural, literary and promotional project of Slavic literatures”.
Student section of the Union of societies Slavic Society of Slovenia prepared a presentation of the new issue of Perun magazine at the Forum of Slavic Cultures. The latest issue brings an interesting selection of articles from diverse areas of the humanities.
Every year, Gourmand confers international awards for the best cookbooks on food and drink culture and upon its 25th anniversary they conferred the Best of the Best 25 awards. One of the recipients was also Janez Bogataj with his book At the Table with the Slavs. The book was published in Slovenian and English languages by the Forum of Slavic Cultures.
The 2020 ŽIVA Award ceremony and accompanying conference will take place in Belgrade in January 2020. Award winners and other participants will make an excursion to Novi Sad for the official opening of the European Capital of Culture 2022.
Organized by the FSK and the book fair and festival Book Fair(y) in Istria the Slavic Garden in Pula saw its third edition in the framework of the Pula book fair. Its aim is to promote Slavic literatures and this year it all revolved around the central theme – Love.
Dr. Andreja Rihter, Director of the Forum of Slavic Cultures, met with Maja Gojković, President of the FSK Board, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia, in Villa Zlatica. They talked about the international foundation’s strategic orientation and events to be organized in Serbia in the framework of FSK projects in the following months.
Forum of Slavic Cultures and partners kicked off the Slavic Seasons cycle at Bogenšperk Castle with the first in the series of events. Young grammar school students from Celje and Litija listened to the motivational address by Dmitry Polikanov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo, and talked to Slovenian author Vlado Žabot and Yulia Sozina, literary historian from Russia.
After the epidemic pushed four international Piranova colloquia online, the Forum of Slavic Cultures organized the sixth colloquium live. 15 participants and lecturers from six countries came to Piran to discover and explore sound waves.
