A Night at Villa Zlatica

On the night of April 18–19, a truly special programme took place at Villa Zlatica. In cooperation with the Museum and Galleries of the City of Ljubljana, the Forum of Slavic Cultures created a unique cultural experience: a night at the museum for brave children. Accompanied by curator-educator Ema Marinčič and two experienced animators, a group of ten children aged 8 to 10 spent the night at Villa Zlatica.

After an introductory gathering and ice-breaking activities, the participants set off on a guided tour of the villa tailored to their age group. With great storytelling flair, animator Primož Kolenc presented the history and story of the museum. Through the memories and stories of Zlatica Hribar, the children learned about the family’s life and the important legacy of the renowned Ivan Hribar. Following the tour, they put their newly acquired knowledge into practice by taking part in a traditional bourgeois tea party. After a rich evening programme, the children went to rest late at night, becoming the first to spend the night at Villa Zlatica since 2000.

The following morning began with yoga in the garden in front of the villa, followed by breakfast and a short walk. On Rožnik Hill, the children picked flowers, which they later used as inspiration for the final creative workshop. The event concluded with a warm farewell and a slight sense of disappointment that such an unforgettable experience had passed so quickly.
