From 25 to 27 May, Koper will host the 17th International Summer School of Museology, PIRANOVA 2026, organised by the Forum of Slavic Cultures, the European Museum Academy, the Regional Museum Koper, and the Municipality of Koper.
This year’s summer school focuses on two approaches to interpreting cultural heritage:
- interpretation through words, including the interpretation and presentation of literary heritage;
- and interpretation through technology, using contemporary digital tools and media.
The programme includes lectures, discussions, and practical workshops and concludes with a professional study excursion to Trieste.
The summer school is intended for museum professionals, curators, students of museology, conservators, and all those interested in museum work and cultural heritage. The programme will be conducted in English.
Applications are open until 25 May or until all places are filled.
Special discounts are available for students and members of the Forum of Slavic Cultures.
The Early Bird discount (20%) is valid until 10 April.
Please note that the currently published programme is a draft. As the programme is still in preparation, changes to content and timing may still occur. Speaker biographies and lecture abstracts are being updated continuously as they are received.
