Ivan Hribar was born on 19 September 1851. On the occasion of the 175th anniversary of his birth, we warmly invite you to a free guided visit of his former home, Vila Zlatica.
Throughout his long life, Ivan Hribar left an exceptional mark on the history of Ljubljana and on the wider Slovenian cultural and political landscape. As mayor, politician, diplomat, and businessman, he played an important role in shaping the development of the city at the turn of the 20th century, and his name remains closely associated with a period of major transformation in Ljubljana.
He also entered Slovenian historical memory through his death in April 1941. Following the Italian occupation of Ljubljana, the 89-year-old Hribar chose to take his own life, expressing through this act his rejection of the occupation.
To mark the 175th anniversary of his birth, admission to Vila Zlatica will be free on 19 September. Guided tours will take place at 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 4:00 PM, and 5:00 PM.
The museum collection can only be visited as part of a guided tour.
